CANDIDATE FORUMS NOVEMBER 4, 2008 ELECTION Walking the Talk The goal of the League of Women Voters is to empower citizens to shape better communities. Lofty words but what have they got to do with us? The founders of our form of representative democracy understood that only as voters learned about the people who were asking for the responsibility of representing them would they be able to make informed choices. In our current atmosphere of distrust of biased reporting and polarized opinions, it is vital that all voters find out as much as they can about the people who will be making the decisions that will affect all of us. One of the best ways to do this is to hear an eminently fair, careful non-partisan Forum in which each candidate has an equal opportunity to answer questions submitted by the audience attending the Forum. This is one of the most important services the League of Women Voters provides to fulfill that goal. Don't miss your opportunity to empower yourself and your friends and neighbors to shape a better community right here in our time and our place.
